Electronics and software in vehicle technology have become increasingly important. At the same time job entrants are faced with high demands due to the complex development processes in the automotive industry.
For this reason graduates require increasingly specialised knowledge in the subject areas electronics, software and the networking of vehicles. In order to accommodate for these requirements the Department of Computer Science now offers a special degree Computer Science in Vehicle Technology.
The degree is offered in cooperation with the Departments of Mechanical and Process Engineering and Electrical and Computer Engineering. About two thirds of the degree is in computer science. One third of the course is in the cooperating departments.
Bachelor degree course
The bachelor degree course consists of lectures and seminars in core computer science, maths and the application areas mechanical and electrical engineering. The computer science lectures and seminars are a part of the degree course Computer Science.
The degree course Computer Science in Vehicle Technology is an engineering degree. For this reason this degree course contains engineering mathematics which is also studied by mechanical engineering and electrical engineering students.
The courses in mechanical and electrical engineering are mainly foundation lectures. The vehicle specific aspects of the degree are mainly reserved for the master degree. This provides our bachelor students with a solid scientific basis which lays the foundations for the more detailed course in vehicle technology later. With this basic education it is also easily possible to transfer to other technical areas later.
Master´s Course of Studies "Computer Science"
Master students can choose between a multitude of computer science courses and courses from the area of application vehicle technology. Students can choose courses from the list according to their own interests. Together with the student's mentor the offer of courses can be adapted further to suit the needs of the student.
